Driver's Insight
The SUV has certainly become a popular vehicle in today's world with practically every car and truck manufacturer having one or more to offer. The trouble is, after a while they all begin to look alike. Then along comes this Toyota FJ Cruiser made for the person who likes to drive something different, something that maybe even stands out in the crowd. The FJ Cruiser is a retro from the original Toyota FJ 40, an off road vehicle that had a following all it's own when it first showed up in the states back in the late 50s. Of course the new version is much more refined offering things like air conditioning, power windows and locks am/fm stereo w/cd and independent front suspension for a smoother ride. It's still built to go off road with skid plates and low range transfer case offered as standard equipment. The 4.0 liter 239 horsepower V-6 engine is much smoother and quieter than the original in line 6 cylinder that came in the FJ 40 and this one has the 5 speed automatic transmission with overdrive.
